The Campus Living Wage Project: Interviews with Student Activists, Organizers, and Researchers on Campus Labor Rights Campaigns

Who are you? What's the deal?

Good question. My name's Adam, and I began this project back in the Winter of 2002 with a grant from the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University. I started this project because I thought living wage campaigns were one of the most interesting things going on in "progressive" politics at the time. Amid all the problems in national Democratic politics, here were students that were trying to make a change in a local and direct way. What could be simpler?

While the activists and the campaigns that are featured here are by no means perfect, I do believe these are the people and the ideals that will move our society forward.

I received my B.A. from the Program in Human Biology in 2003, and received my M.A. in Philosophy in 2005, both at Stanford University. I grew up in Santa Barbara, Ca., and owe a great deal to my family, teachers, and friends who supported me there.
